How to create a promotion code for iOS purchases in the application

As of May 2014 this year, Google’s search for “ios in ad code for app purchases” shows a lot of news sites reporting the same thing: Apple seems to be working to allow promotional codes for testing in-app purchases, as shown in the screenshot from EA games .

My question is: Does anyone know how to do this? I entered the new iTunesConnect interface, but I can’t find any link and nothing appears in Apple docs from what I can find.

Ideally, I am looking to create a code for a monthly subscription, but they can only be allowed for supplies. Due to the lack of up-to-date information on IAP promo codes, I assume that this feature has not yet been officially available, and that EA games have been invited by Apple to check it.

As @Christoph Wimberge notes, this is old news. Apple now supports this.

You cannot officially receive promotional codes for IAP at this time. See here https://developer.apple.com/library/prerelease/ios/documentation/LanguagesUtilities/Conceptual/iTunesConnect_Guide/Chapters/ProvidingPromoCodes.html . If you are testing, you should create Sandbox testers in the Users and Roles section. Depending on how you handled the IAP, this might serve as a promotional code. So, for example, if you use IAP to set a flag in NSUserDefaults or a plist file, then this will work as a promo code. You will need to instruct the user to log in as a test user for purchase purposes. Even if you delete the test user after checking the box, the user can use IAP until he completely removes the application, and if you do not change the way IAP is processed, for example, using the App Store’s digital receipts to confirm purchases, Of course, if you are worried about crackers , you are probably not going to store a successful IAP as a flag, especially in User Defaults, where anyone can just change the value of willy nilly. But for applications that are not games, this is probably not a big concern. Hope this helps.

Today we were told Apple that they never allow users to enter codes, use Q-codes or another gateway key to access anything. Instead, she said that we should use a member-only webpage (i.e., login) to accept ransom codes and link content through our server. When the user returns to the application, the content will be available.

If Apple activates codes for IAP, you can offer codes for sale from another platform, which will then unlock IAP. Apple will do all the work, but will not receive a single award. In addition, all of a sudden, you created a disruption of the promotional code market, for example g2a.com for Steam keys.

While Apple may have functionality, it seems exclusive to EA at the moment.

Currently, you need to figure out how to support advertising elements outside the app store.
