How to update postgres database from 9.3 to 9.4 on a hero?

This is a question for the Heroku staff. I have a database working with postgres 9.3. When the hero will offer 9.4, what was released last week? Is there an upgrade guide? And is there a better way to convert json to jsonb columns with minimal downtime? Thanks!

As said here , you can try out 9.4 by passing the flag --version=9.4 :

 heroku addons:add heroku-postgresql:standard-0 --version=9.4 

To update the database:

• dump your data
• update your postgresql heroku instance
• update your postgresql schema (json to jsonb ...)
• reload your data.

You can also try pg_upgrade .

As of April 23, 2015, postgresql 9.4 is available on Heroku .
