As far as I understand, applications for Mac and iOS are considered separate applications, and I did not see anything in the iTunes connection that would connect application purchases with each other. Just like you canβt buy it, then automatically get another one for free. With that said, I see too possible solutions.
The first solution is to use the server to store the purchased. Provide some login, and then they will be able to download / unlock what was bought, regardless of what platform, because it will be a wave for the account.
If a third-party server is not a solution. I would consider some kind of file sharing or sync between Mac and iOS. MultipeerConnectivity may be an option when the purchased device can synchronize with a device that does not have one. This will require both a Mac and an iOS device to be near, and there are some restrictions on the fact that devices can do this, but may also be an option.
