Installing the Teamcity build agent as a user: Failed to install the service. The selected account does not have enough rights

I want to install TeamCity BuildAgend as a user. When entering my user credentials here:

I always get this error:

NOTE. My account (user) is an administrator with full permission!

How can i do this?

The error message says that it doesn’t have “sufficient rights to run as a service”,
this is a little different than being an administrator.

  • Go to Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Local Security Policy .
  • Select Local Policies> User Rights Assignment .
  • Scroll through the list of policies and find Register as a service .
  • Add the account you are using to the list of accounts with this right.

That should theoretically be all you need to allow the service to run under this user.

The best powershell command I've found for this:

Grant-Privilege -Identity $SERVICE_USERNAME -Privilege SeServiceLogonRight

Requires use of the Carbon framework .
