How to automatically restart a GCE instance?

How to automatically restart an extruded instance of Google Compute Engine? I have only one instance that does not require 100% uptime, but which I would like to restart when the data center is unloaded again. The instance / server that I am trying to automatically restart has its own boot disk, which I would like to use every time I restart.

You can try using the Instance Group Manager to configure a pool of size 1. Then it will try to recreate the instances after they are interrupted.

You should be aware that there is no guarantee that the capacity of your copy will be sufficient. As the docs say:

Preferred instances are available from a limited number of Compute Engine resources and may not always be available.
