How to unzip a folder with multiple files using SSIS script task C # 2005 or 2008?

Question

My project has a requirement that I need to unzip some zip folder. I googled and found out, without using external libraries, I can’t achieve this either with the GzipStream class, we can unzip .gz files.

Is there any way to unzip without using any external libraries?

PS: I only need to use the script component for this, and the .Net framework is 3.0.

A) Declare the variable FileName as a string data type

B) Use the ForEach loop to cycle files in the folder and map file names to the FileName variable

C) Use the Run Process task for zip / unzip for individual files.

D) Run the package

I did not want to use the 7zip approach or an external library, because it complicates the deployment of the SSIS package a bit. So I went with a similar approach to Gallery Script , referenced by @StackTrace, and also here and here . I already had a Script task that runs a different logic, so for this I just need C # code. I found that the Script task was running on the MTA thread, but Shell32 code should be running using the STA thread, so I got this code. Hope someone else helps:

Then you can simply call it from another place in the Script. A task similar to this:
