Visual Studio 2015 missing Windows 8 startup menu icons

We are currently trying to deploy Visual Studio 2015 Professional in our school on Windows 8. Visual Studio installs fine, but its shortcut is missing from the Start menu. and the search function does not find the visual studio. The program can be launched directly.

I found several shortcuts in: "C: \ ProgramData \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Start Menu \ Programs \ Visual Studio Tools", however this is only for command line tools and not for visual studio itself.

Are there any other shortcuts?

As it turned out, our domain has a script that deletes any shortcuts not in a subfolder - this explains why the shortcuts disappear!

We added a line to our installation script to place the shortcut in a subdirectory.

I found that the same thing happened with my installation under Windows 7

Instead of shortcuts inside the Visual Studio 2015 menu program directory, I found them at the same level in the parent directory - somewhere I did not expect them to be.

The installation will move the shortcut for visual studio 2015 outside the 2015 folder to match other Microsoft applications.

Type: Windows key to use "Search for programs and files", enter "Visual Studio" to quickly open VS.

Type: Windows key, click "All Programs", then click "visual studio 2015"
