Delete preview file on the right side of the editor in VS code

This beauty appeared after a recent update, and it distracts me very much.

View code in VS code. On the right side is a very narrow column containing a small version of the code in the main view. A red arrow indicates this, indicating that this is what the OP wants to remove.

I looked through the menu but did not find any settings to delete it. Is there any way to expel him from the editor?

This is called a minimap , and as indicated in this link,

If you want to disable the mini "editor.minimap.enabled": false , you can set "editor.minimap.enabled": false in the settings of your user or workspace.

After saving the settings file, the minimap disappears.

Click "File" โ†’ "Settings" โ†’ "Settings" After the settings are open, in the "search settings" or press "Ctrl + f", enter "editor.minimap.enabled", this will lead you to the settings. To the left of it, the edited option will be available by right-clicking it. And set it to false. After the wards, you see that the right sidebar is hidden.

You can also switch the minimap from the command palette. You can go to "View" and select "Command Palette" or just Ctrl + Shift + P and enter the word "minimap", you will immediately get the opportunity to switch the minimap.

While all the answers here will help you complete the original question, they show an outdated manual way to hide the minimap. In current versions of the code, there is the "Toggle Minimap" item in the "View" menu, which will hide the minimap without having to edit anything manually in the user settings.

I noticed the correct answer. I am adding a description with an image for a better understanding. Here is a number from 1 to 5 that describe the steps. First, click File-> Settings-> Settings. Then you will get the user settings page. Then enter "editor.minimap.enabled" in the search field (step 4). You will get a setting. To the left of it, the edited version (step 5) will be accessible by right-clicking on it.

Here is a simple minimap removal solution. Just right-click anywhere in the minimap and select "Scroll Bar Options ..." from the right-click menu. You will then see the scrollbar options section in the options dialog box. On the right side of the dialog box, you will see a section called "Behavior". In this subsection, select the radio button for Use Panel Mode For Vertical Scroll Bar. Finally click OK. This will remove the minimap. If you want to reactivate the minimap, open the scrollbar options window again by right-clicking anywhere in the thin space of the scrollbar and selecting "Scrollbar options ...". And this time, select the switch that says "Use map mode for vertical scrollbar." Hope this helps.

On Mac: Code Settings - Settings and in the right pane add the following line:

  "editor.minimap.enabled": false

Please pay attention to commas, this file needs them after each, except for the last line. (He will warn you if the comma is missing.)
