How to restore the VBA editor to its original settings?

How to restore the VBA editor to its basic settings? I have some problems with the settings of the macro windows and project projects, after some bad manipulations.

The only way I know how to do this is to change the registry.

  • Close all Office programs
  • Open a command prompt and enter regedit
  • Go to HKEY_CURRENTUSER \ Software \ Microsoft \ VBA \ 6.0 \ Common
  • Right-click on Common and Export to save the .reg file in a safe place. This is your support. Double-clicking on this file will restore your current settings.
  • Right-click on Common and delete it. This will delete all its subkeys that contain your personal settings.

The "shared" key will be recreated the next time you close the VBA editor, along with any changes to the settings that you can make.

Solution using Mac and Excel 2016.

I found that I can drag, for example, the Project Explorer (pe) window to the edge of the VB window, and the outline of the pe window will shift and adjust as soon as you get close enough to the edge. It also works with other windows when you open them.

My default view is the project explorer in the upper left, properties in the lower left. To return them in that order, drag one to this place (which will fill this entire area), and then drag another directly on top of it. This puts them in the same column, and then you can adjust their size in these places.

I had the same problem, and I struggled with it for literally 2 days. Finally figured out !!! xD First close Project Explorer and the property windows using the X in the upper right corner. Then go to Options on the Dock tab. Uncheck all the boxes. Close the settings window and, if desired, check that everything is undocked. Now go back to Options> Docking and check all the checkboxes that you checked (by default, everything except the Object Browser). Your windows should have returned to their default values.

This may not solve the original OP question “by default” for everyone, but in my case and, possibly, in others, I was looking to re-pin the “Project Explorer” and so that modules appear next to it, as by default. I'm not sure about the other settings, but this is how I restored the above behavior.

In the project explorer, right-click and select "Dockable". Then insert the module and expand it. This should restore what I consider the default behavior.

I am not aware of the “reset” command, but the starting point would be to go to the “View” menu and start by setting the “Code”, “Project Explorer” and “Properties” windows, and then toolbars> Standard (toolbar)
