Testing Windows 10 Universal App on XBOX One

Can I currently test the UWP app on my own XBOX (do not publish, just check on my own XBOX One console)?

Based on MS faq: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/developers/ID ...

"For developers working with Universal Apps for Windows, you'll be able to test your games on the retail Xbox One sometime after the second half of 2015."

However, I cannot find any good details explaining the process of testing / downloading applications on the XBOX One. Any insight would be appreciated.

Not yet, but soon!

No, itโ€™s not yet possible to use the UWP app for the Xbox One (early 2016). At the end of 2015, it was mentioned, but, like many others, the release was discarded.

The best advice I can give is to wait for Build 2016 , where he expected us to be provided with information about the situation.

Get Ready For Xbox One

In the meantime, as a developer, you can prepare your UWP apps for the Xbox One by following some basic rules ...

  • Make sure your UWP app works well at 1080p. If your PC monitor is different, use the simulator to test

  • How Xbox users use the Xbox controller (or voice or Kinect gestures) to navigate, make the keyboard and keyboard and mouse support for your phone / tablet and desktop users validate your application.

  • Pay attention to the current applications already on the Xbox, built-in and from the store. Most applications on the PC and phone simply do not fit or will be useful for the Xbox. Consumable media (video, music, images) or small pieces of content are ideal.
