How to rename a genymotion device?

My virtual device is called phone 720*1280 , I want to rename it to client phone . However, you cannot find the settings for this if I rename the folder inside .Genymobile / genymotion / deployed - there is no device from the list of available devices, changes in the field inside phone 720*1280.xml (name, vm_device_name) do not show any effect.

I often use GenyMotion, and I was also interested. I was able to successfully rename one of my GenyMotion virtual machines by doing the following:

  • Close GenyMotion completely (it may not be necessary, but mine was completely closed when I tried it)
  • Open VirtualBox ("Oracle Virtual Machine Manager")
  • In the list of virtual machines, right-click on the GenyMotion virtual machine that you want to rename
  • In the context menu that appears, click "Settings ..."
  • Make sure you are on the General tab of the General section.
  • Change the text inside the Name text box or text box to whatever you want.
  • Finally, just click the β€œOK” button at the bottom of the window.

When you open GenyMotion, you should see the device listed with any name entered inside VirtualBox.

I personally tested this on Window 10 64bit, with VirtualBox v5.0.8 (r103449) and GenyMotion v2.5.4. After following the steps above, I was able to successfully rename the Android virtual machine and use it in GenyMotion.

Note Renaming of the folder is also displayed. Hope this will not be a problem for you.

I tried this and it worked for me:

  • xxx.vbox and xxx.vbox-prev in Genymobile \ Genymotion \ deployed \ xxx;

  • open these two files, you can get the following:
    Machine uuid = ".." name = "xxx" OSType = "Linux"
    just change the "name" and save, do.
