Child process error: error: channel closed - node + atom

Question

I am relatively new to Node. I am using Atom and the following error message keeps popping up again and again:

child process error: Error: channel closed 

In addition, several times my page became unresponsive (not sure if they are connected, but they believe that there is a high probability).

What are the steps you need to take to track the cause of this error in order to resolve it?

Check if the package "atom-ternjs" is installed. I installed it on Atom 1.8.0 on OS X 10.11.5, and I often see this error recently. Disable this plugin, if installed, and see if the error persists.

Not quite a permanent solution, but I found that if you restart the ternjs server, the errors go away (at least for a while)
