Git clone freezes when receiving objects on MAC OSX 10.12

I am trying to configure Cocoapods on mac osx 10.12, I tried to execute this command in the terminal, which it hangs upon receiving the object: -

cd ~/.cocoapods/repos GIT_TRACE=1; GIT_CURL_VERBOSE=1 git clone http://github.com/CocoaPods/Specs.git master --verbose

Here is the terminal output: -

I saw other questions about this problem here on SO, unfortunately there were no solutions there.

Update: -

After some time, the terminal detected this error: -

I confirm that the network problem is on my side. I ran this command on a machine under Windows 10: -

git clone http://github.com/CocoaPods/Specs.git master

Then I copied the master repo to this directory on the MAC OSX machine using the cp terminal command (a regular copy using Finder freezes for several hours): -

~/.cocoapods/repos/master

Then finally running pod init, then pod install --verbose in my project directory worked like a charm

See this answer.

VMware on NAT had this problem for me. Changing it to a bridge (copy state) fixed the problem.
