Initiative Icon for Image Asset Launcher Loss of Transparency

I am trying to add a launch icon for an application in Android Studio.

What i have done so far:

Go to the res folder with the right mouse button and select new image asset

From there I will find a png file that I would like to use as an application launcher icon.

As you can see, the source resource is displayed correctly, without a white background. But 5 different types of icons have a white background and lose transparency.

I want the application icon to remain transparent and not display a white background.

To make the background transparent, set the shape to None . See image below:
