Is there a way to use 3D views or 3D perspectives in the Google Maps API?

I am trying to use 3D View / 3D perspective in a project. I cannot find a tutorial, sample, or documentation for this feature.

PS: There are a few questions about showing 3D buildings from SketchUp, this is not what I am asking.

I know that this is not exactly what you are looking for, but cesium.js is a pretty cool (and I would say, more powerful) 3d mapping library that can use google satellite base maps. It supports 3D terrain, but I'm currently having trouble finding a demo.
