How do I get the Chrome timeline dashboard in 2017? (How to use the Chrome validation tool to remove unused CSS?)

I am trying to follow this guide, which was written back in 2014: https://www.labnol.org/internet/remove-unused-css/28635/ .

It says that there should be a Remove unused CSS rules section that appears after starting the "audit" in devtools.

I am currently using Chrome 60.0.3112.90 for Windows, and there is no such section. It is even in the specifications. Has it been replaced by Reduce render-blocking stylesheets ? If so, how is it the same thing?

To get the old dashboard:

  • First open the developer tools by pressing f12 or Ctrl + Shift + I
  • Open the command menu (Cmd + Shift + P (or Ctrl + Shift + P)).
  • Start typing Legacy.
  • Select Show Deprecated Audits.
