Here's an article comparing kBPM, OpenWFE, and Enhydra Shark, which look like they have good, complete information.

It depends on what initial investment you want to make. jBPM is better in terms of features and flexibility, but OSWorkflow is lighter, easier to get up and work, and has a lesser learning curve.

Drools Flow is the best workflow solution I've met recently. It is a luxury to be better than other solutions, as it has been built and designed recently and is based on lessons learned from other long-standing, several built-in frameworks.

Drools Flow is delivered as a community project along with the official Drools 5 , which in addition to Flow includes: Guvnor, Expert and Fusion.

Unfortunately, Drools Flow does not yet have an official contract for Red Hat support, and for some large corporations this will be a traffic jam. You might think that support does not exist for political reasons, because of the jBPM project living under one roof of support.

I will vote for jBPM. We used it on a large ETL platform internally, and it seemed to work very well. However, I have nothing to compare.
