Which Windows text editor meets this criterion

My Situation: I like the e editor , however I am on a new computer and my license is being used on my old one. I can’t afford another license, so I’m looking for a free editor that meets the following criteria:

  • Highlighted syntax
  • The ability to view the catalog and its contents in the sidebar without having to create it as a "project" (very important)
  • Easily customizable (I like dark themes)
  • Tabs

It would also be nice:

  • S / FTP Support
  • code snippets / packages
  • Multi-line editing

And no (they are simply listed because they are general sentences, but I tried and did not find them according to my criteria):

  • Vim / emacs
  • Notepad ++
  • Raspberry / Emerald Editor
  • Programmer's Notebook
  • Notepad / Notepad: P

Thanks. Oh, and as a link, here is a picture of my current setup: Link

Edit : Thanks to all those who suggested. All 3 (JEdit, Cream and PsPad) are reliable candidates for anyone looking at this topic.

Are you ready to spend all this time and effort asking and evaluating other editors who almost certainly do not have all the features you want, but you can’t put out $ 35 for another license?

When I make such decisions, I always value my time at $ 100 / hour, so if it takes me more than 20 minutes, I’ll just buy another license.

Time is a product that you cannot restore; you can always make more money ...

You can mock it, but Cream is a very non-Vimlike offshoot of Vim. Here is an article written specifically for Textmate (and e) fans who want to try it.

PsPad Great free text editor.

The FTP site is also being edited as if it were in a local folder. very comfortably.

When registering an e-license, it is tied to you, and not to one specific computer. This means that you can use the license for as many computers as you want. There are also no restrictions on the platforms, so it will also be valid in future versions for Linux or any other OS.

No need to buy another license!

I would recommend Gedit. There was a version of Windows .

I have never used a Mac, but I think Textmate should be the best text editor. When I'm on Windows, I really like the e-Text editor. But later I have to go to Linux (Ubuntu) for the requirement. I was looking for a Textmate / e-Text editor, such as a text editor for Linux.

I found out that Gedith is not bad. Here is my gedit ...

At your request, Gedit already has decent syntax highlighting and Tab. I don’t think that I didn’t have the Project panel, but the Documents List and File Browser are not bad.

Lightweight? Gedith doesn't have many ready-made themes. But you can easily create your own themes by creating basic xml templates for the default themes (in ubuntu 8.04, the default theme directory is / usr / share / gtksourceview-2.0 / styles).

The built-in terminal, Word add-ons, and code snippets are also important to me. Gedit has many useful plugins for this feature.

There was a lot of customization tutorial for Gedit, you might have to spend your time on customization. :)

try Komodo edit, its free and you can do what you mentioned afaik.

The folder function of the sidebar is called "live folders", and in the right pane - vi emulation, dark themes, tabs, sftp support, etc.

A text editor license is not for every user. Thus, you do not need to buy another license to use it on another machine, just copy the license.
