What is the difference between DTCPing and DTCTester?

I used to use DTCTester to diagnose MSDTC problems. However, I just noticed that DTCP seems to do the same. What is the difference between the two?

From what I can say so far, DTCPing needs to be run on both client and server machines, while DTCTester needs to be run only from the client. Are there any other differences?

Testing DTC settings is very common when installing BizTalk Server, therefore from the BTS documentation, therefore from http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa561924.aspx

Use the DTCTester utility to verify transaction support between two computers if SQL Server is installed on one of the computers. DTCTester Utility uses ODBC to verify transaction support for SQL Server database. For more information about DTCTester, see How to Use the DTCTester Tool.

Use DTCP to verify transaction support between two computers if SQL Server is not installed on either computer. The DTCP tool must be running on both the client and the server and is a good alternative to the DTCTester utility when SQL Server is not installed on any computer. For more information on DTCP, see MS DTC Firewall Troubleshooting Questions.

This is not a direct answer to this question, but an important point for discussion.

Create an ODBC data source for your SQL Server using the ODBC utility in Control Panel.
