Is there something like the Google Safe Browsing API that is more stable?

The Google Safe Browsing API allows you to check URLs in the Google database of malicious and phishing domains. However, the Developer's Guide page says the API is experimental, and the data format is likely to change.

Although in the past I had good impressions of a number of Google APIs, they were all pretty stable. I don’t think I’m ready to use the experimental API in my project, so I’m looking for an alternative.

You can create your own local blacklist. If something bad from the Google API is added to your own local cache, otherwise you can check it yourself.

Opera, a popular desktop / mobile browser, uses Netcraft (a paid service) - http://news.netcraft.com/phishing-site-feed/ - and PhishTank (a free service) - http://www.phishtank.com/ - to detect dangerous URLs. Netcraft offers a feed of phishing sites, and PhishTank has an API.

BrightCloud has just released an API for classifying URLs , which is more complete than the Google Safe Browsing API - it costs money, but it's cheap. In addition to categories such as Adult and Gambling, it also has security-oriented categories such as phishing, malware, and spam.

A complete list of categories is given below: http://brightcloud.com/masterdburllist.asp
