If I use captcha, can I completely stop spam on my blog?

I have a Wordpress blog and the only user is a comment system. I want to completely avoid comments from spam. Wordpress comes with Akismet, but I can also use Captcha. Which plugin / method should be used?

My client does not mind that users enter confirmation lines to leave comments. If I can use Akisment or Captcha, can I fully control spam?

Can I use Akismet or Captcha for a simple four-digit check? If not, then also recommend a plugin / method capable of performing only a four-digit check.

Kachaks seem to be deceived by adherents. Akismet is the best option in my opinion. Having said that you should still use captch along with Akismet :)

No, captchas are not reliable, so I definitely recommend that you ALWAYS use akismet while allowing comments in WordPress. Akismet won't catch either, so the only REAL solution is to soften your comments. However, I found Akismet + moderation a good combo. Akismet catches almost everything, and when this does not happen, I usually need to click the check for spam button again when I get to the comment page and it has been marked as spam in the interval between receiving my moderation email and receiving the WP comment page .

CAPTCHAs are not perfect. I heard about people (for example, from India) who decided to captcha for cash. The best way to stop spam is with a combination:

  • Captcha: proof that the user is human (although some bots may hack them). It’s harder to crack!
  • Akismet: test text for spam. Also not reliable, because some messages may still pass through.
  • Authentication: when you authenticate users as legitimate, I think you can completely stop spam. For example, a user becomes a trusted poster after 5 spam-free messages.

You can never completely avoid spam, but most fully automated spam bots can be stopped with something like ReCaptcha.

I saw this video for MintEye the other day and thought it was a really great alternative to captcha.

They have a much faster resolution and better spam protection.

The best solution is to add hidden form text to the form, so that it is invisible to people, but not to the bot, so when these spambots fill out the form, also write in hidden input and check "if else 'you cannot receive comments or mail written by bot Exemple:

if($_POST['hidden_input'] != ""){ echo('<p>You are a spambot!</p>'); }

The best captcha solution I know so far is Recaptcha (the same one used in stackoverflow).

If you want more security, you can create your own verification system.

I do not believe that there is 100% protection against spam, and it is wrong to count on it.
But I believe that in captcha there is an opportunity to change your spamstoppingn principles faster and easier than developing spamming methods.

PS
The most popular captchas (reCAPTCHA, SI Captcha, etc.) Do not change and cannot be changed, are skipped by bots.

Using the Wordfence plugin is also a good option to prevent spam.

Using Recaptcha is better than using any other captcha plugins. But Recaptcha sometimes shows unpleasant characters that cannot be read, so sometimes your visitors will be annoyed.

Many articles say that using Akismet is a good option. I think this is good too. But, however, there are some spam that you cannot avoid. Using the above plugins you can minimize spam.

Akismet is fine. Nothing more.

Akismet does not stop spam. also STOP FORUM SPAM plugins. All spammers can leave comments.

If ya installed a comment moderator, which perfectly blocks spam for displaying ur on the site.

I get a lot of comments about spam. These plugins could not stop them.

Just a little help.
