Eclipse - problems with saving workspace

Periodically (during autosave) and upon closing, I get:

Workspace Preservation Issues

(X) Problems occurred while trying to save the state of the workbench. Details >> Could not write metadata for '/projectname'. encoded string too long: 123456 bytes

It is not possible to find a reason or solution for this using conventional means. Any ideas how to fix it? It uses eclipse 3.4 (Ganymede)

It should relate to the error in the DataOuputStream that it cannot write UTFs longer than 65535 utflen.

If I were you, I will try to find a way to reduce the size of the data, and I will send an error report in Eclipse and JRE.

You are having the same problems on Vista x64. the last JRE does not seem to have the same DataOuputStream restriction, so the installation fixes the annoyance.

The observation I made for these cases for me is that they only occur in newly created projects during the same Eclipse session that I created in the project. As soon as I restart Eclipse, I do not see the problem again until the next time I create a new project.

Has anyone else noticed this about the appearance of an error for them?

This is not a write permission or disk space. I get the same problem on Eclipse 3.5 M4. No problem with 3.4.1.
