Module and functional testing of iPhone code?

I just sat at a workshop on developing applications for the iPhone. The speaker told me that there is NOTHING to write unit tests or functional tests for your iPhone software.

It's true? Actually there is no testing history for iPhone at the moment?

Yes, you can conduct unit testing, I hope that the seminar will not cost too much. Do OCUnit and OCMock work on the iPhone SDK?

Not true. Prior to SDK 2.2, there was no official support for module testing by Apple, but since then they have added OCUnit support, which is documented on the Apple website. Do OCUnit and OCMock work on the iPhone SDK?

Google provides great tools (Google Toolbox for Mac) http://code.google.com/p/google-toolbox-for-mac/wiki/iPhoneUnitTesting

I think that Google is a little more complete, because you can also perform some functional tests of the user interface.

Hope this helps.

Others have indicated the options available, but I will point out that even if there weren’t any unit testing modules, there is nothing that would stop you from folding yourself. Unit test frameworks are not so complex, so the absence of one of them is not an excuse.

No that's not true. Starting with the iPhone SDK 2.2, OCUnit works great. In addition, there are other open source unit test libraries that you can use with your iPhone.

Gorilla Logic has just launched FoneMonkey, a true iPhone recording / playback testing tool that works with OCUnit.
