Fault tolerant soft core?

I have a question...

is there certification or something that decides whether the soft core is fault tolerant or not?

and one more question ... I saw that the LEON3-FT has radiation tolerance only for the RTAX Actel FPGA. Correctly?

Sorry, but I got confused about this because someone is talking about LEON3-FT (fault tolerant) for space applications, where radiation tolerance is better ... mny doubt !!!!!

And, the last question ... is there anyone who knows another soft core "radiation tolerant" (for space use)?

Thank you very much in advance!!!!

Actel is not fault tolerant. First of all, it is resistant to radiation. This is because of how it is design.

Xilinx has documentation on radiation text links .

I have done work on satellite FPGAs and I don’t know any certification bodies. Some discussion of a common problem is in the link text .

Fail-safe design will be the beginning. However, since configuration memory may be corrupted in an SRAM-based project (Xilinx, Altera, Lattice), you also need to worry about this.

This may be helpful . There is also a presentation to summarize the results. This is a test performed for CERN. They need radiation-tolerant ASICs and experience some FPGAs. I think they did not focus on certification, they just check how quickly they can reconfigure a failed FPGA.

When you say that it is fault tolerant, it means that in the event of a failure due to a hit by a radiation ion, the processor will be able to correct the bit. This is due to the way the processor architecture is designed.

This type of fail-safe IP address can be used with SPAM-based devices at a distance, and it will work quite satisfactorily, but I think it will slow down the processor due to fixing errors that it will have to perform due to the peculiarities of FPGA SRAM . While soft errors will be much less if you use the above IP address with FPGA with enhanced radiation.

The difference between hardened and tolerant radiation: solidified is not an error to the level of an angry radiator, while Tolerant will cause an error of a certain amount for a certain amount of radiation.

Actel may provide an upton data request, but provided if you are in the USA. ITAR restrictions apply to all Space devices and

Suppliers may ask you to divulge information about yourself before you expect a response regarding a radiation tolerant / hardened device.

CERN used Actel devices (FUSION family) to correct the configuration of Xilinx devices.
