Why is the Java GUI development platform called "Swing"? What does it mean?
That's all I have found so far - this code name is stuck and it was named after the dance swing.
Many of the people at Sun who have worked in Java participate in Swing music and Swing dances.
The Duke, the Java talisman, was named, for example, the Duke of Ellington.
Swing is not an abbreviation. The name is a joint choice for its designers when the project was launched at the end of 1996. Swing is actually part of more Java products, known as Java Foundation Classes (JFCs), which include many of the features of the Netscape Internet Foundation (IFC) Network Classes, as well as design aspects from IBM Taligent and Lighthouse Design.

Here is the story of "Swing"
This actually comes from the Swing dance :)

I'm not sure I understand your question, but Swing is the name of the Java user interface library and API. (The old legacy GUI is called AWT.)
it means something WINdowing Graphics. Do not believe heretics. No one knows what it is.
