Clicking the Select Items button on the toolbar causes Visual Studio 2008 errors

Question

I searched high and low on this one. I do not have PowerCommands installed, as many of them claim to remove it.

Any other ideas to fix this problem?

Im works with Vista Home 64bit, VS 2008 SP1

Remove / disable CodeRush or each other add-on one by one until it works fine. In most cases, one of them is a problem.

I have the same setup with you, in my case it was DxCore

Well, the question is a little older, but for the sake of completeness: you do not need to delete anything.

I met the following solution at http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/VisualStudio/microsoft.public.vsnet.ide/2008-03/msg00083.html :

• start visual studio from the command line using: devenv.exe / SafeMode
• insert an element into the tool box using the general procedure (select "Elements ...")

vs should not be destroyed. after restarting the visual studio without the SafeMode switch, the added elements are still available.

For me, these were Visual Studio 2008 management teams.

EDIT . I also had this problem with other other free extensions. I just can't remember which one was different :(

EDIT2 : I just remembered, I installed SilverLight Tools 2 or 2 beta. This caused this problem. It also messed up DataAnnotations with an older version and messed up the Entity Framework for me. The reinstallation of my car is over.

I got this by adding some XML structure to the devenv.exe.config file, as described here:

Use the XML code specified in the <!-NEW STUFF--> section.

There is a workaround: Add a control to the toolbar in VS2010. Select the control in the toolbar, right-click-> Copy. Go to VS2008, select the tab in the toolbar to which you want to add this control, right-click-> Paste.

I removed PowerCommands and SD constructor. I was able to select items.
