I'm interested, I always see that my download is average on my computer, 1.76,1,31,1,08 at the moment. What does it mean?

The average load value attempts to measure the number of active processes at any time. As a measure of CPU utilization, the average load value is simplified, poorly defined, but far from useless. Average values โ€‹โ€‹of average load usually mean that the system is used to a large extent and the response time is correspondingly slow. What is high? ... Ideally, you would like the average load to be under, say, 3, ... Ultimately, โ€œhighโ€ means high enough so you don't need uptime to let you know that the system is overloaded.

When viewing the results of average load values, they are within the last 1, 5 and 15 minutes.

If your processor was hot-dog resistant, average loads will tell you the average number of people standing in line to be served. A load of less than 1.0 means that the seller of the hot dog has free time between customers - 1.0 means that although the line never accumulates, some client always talks to the seller (who knows where all the hot dogs go ... ) Having a "low" average load does not mean that your computer is not doing anything, but clients may appear that take a very long time to eat their hot dog before entering the line again (that is, some process may be waiting on disk or on the network to wake them up with some data when they appear), with a faster disk or network connection, can improve your overall sales.

Enjoy.

The load indicates how human processes are waiting in line to be executed. You will have a load of 1 if you have so many processes that at least one process must always be in the queue before it is executed (not executed immediately).

Numbers in uptime are average over a given period.
