CSV for XLS linux script

Question

I need a script to convert a CSV comma file to an excel xls file. I tried a python script on the net, but I was not able to install the correct python version to install the mod / dependency script. What is the best solution?

cheat: rename data.csv to data.xls . excel opens it and you never notice the difference
