Right now, I get it in Excel 2007, but I have the same error in almost every version of Excel that I used with 97. The only noticeable similarity is what happens on my office PC. It never bothered me on my home PC.

In Excel 2003, I managed to get confused in the settings of the clipboard until it left. However, in 2007, the options seemed to be severely limited and generally useless. Google didn't help either.

Update: I still haven't found a permanent solution, but I found another thing that seems to help. In Excel 2007, from the "home" tab The first thing on the left is the clipboard toolbar. Expand the panel to view the clipboard and in the clipboard you can find "can not empty clipboard" as an entry. Clear the clipboard, keep the panel open for a second or two while you make a few cuts and pastes / drags, etc. and that scarecrow seems to be leaving.

Do you use Skype? This was the best solution I found to get rid of “I can't clear the error on the clipboard” in Excel 2007 and 2010. Remove the Skype add-on in IE and / or Firefox and goodbye to annoyance!

I am sure that Paul Simon is right (see his presentation in this thread), and this is a question about which program on your computer blocks the clipboard. I do not run the listed programs (for example, on the Microsoft website), and I am not in a network or virtual environment, so for me it is not a blocking program (but it may be for you). I am not a complicated user and am afraid to change my registry, so I did not want to go there.

Now I was able to accurately reproduce the message “I can’t clear the clipboard” by enabling and disabling the addition of skype in Internet Explorer. This is easy for hobbyists, and it may be one of the most common clipboard blocking programs:

I first confirmed that I can turn on / off the problem in Excel by opening / closing Internet Explorer.

Then I turned off skype adding:

I copied the image (instead of text) that I had in my excel 2007 file and this solved the problem for me. Image copied to (blank) clipboard. I could then copy cells normally even after clearing the image clipboard. I think the graph object should also do the trick.
