Are there any good documents or websites that provide design guidelines for XAML GUIs?

I am looking for some guidelines or standards for the design of the XAML GUI ... or even a very good set of examples that show a good graphical interface that I can use as a starting point.

Over the years, I turned into a very good designer of the Battleship Gray Dialog, but those are old and ugly now ... and I need to update a couple of product GUIs.

I know that with XAML I can do much more easily than I could with WInForms .. so now it is more dangerous. I would prefer that my application is combined with the latest applications that run correctly, and do not stand out like the old WinAMP skin.

Any suggestions?

Good comment w / skin WinAmp ...

I'm not sure if you came across this resource, but MSFT has compiled a fairly complete set of UX instructions here .

This includes a downloadable PDF file if you are reading this leisure activity. Although most of the recommendations apply to LOB (Line of Business) applications, you will find good information there on what not to do with WPF (that is, just because you can not mean what you should ).

As for the full-blown GUIs of storefronts, this is a little light - these are mostly context-sensitive screen screens. However, I found some good examples of user interfaces from the template libraries that Yahoo offers , and Infragistics has a neat site called Quince that has the same information, but with a Silverlight presentation.

One of the sites that I like to browse is smashingmagazine.com . It focuses on web designers, not WPF or Silverlight. But he has many articles that showcase a lot of great ideas for all kinds, such as search boxes , palette controls , free icon sets , etc.

The WPF application quality guide was invaluable to me; here is the link:

Edit:

Didn't see what you meant visual design; in this case, I will probably use many of the many resources for web design, as these two areas are quite closely related.

Of course, always Quince . This is primarily focused on Silverlight, but it is still useful. Especially when you think about your design in terms of UI / UX models.
