How to disable checking for Firefox add-on updates

I am running Firefox (Linux) through the command line using cron-job. When there is no update for add-ons, it starts normally, then I can say what to do. However, if there is an update for the add-in, then he asks if this update should be accepted or not. I have no way to detect a popup and choose no.

So, how can I turn off all issues when starting Firefox?

Questions like:

  • Do you want to update add-ons?
  • Do you want to update Firefox?
  • Do you want to open previous tabs or a new session?

I pretty much want to keep my version of Firefox as it is, and I have no questions.

When I launch Firefox, I would like it to start from scratch without any questions.

If the linux version is not at all different, in the settings> advanced> updates there are settings that you can disable related to the automatic search for updates for firefoxx and its add-ons.

In "about: config" you can set "Browser.sessionstore.enabled" to false, in which case firefox will not restore your tab state after the browsing session fails.

I went to about: config to find and disable all * .update.enabled

user_pref("app.update.enabled", false);, user_pref("browser.search.update", false); user_pref("extensions.update.enabled", false);

Otherwise, it will cancel my Watir tests.

Depending on what functionality you need when starting FF, you may want to look at the safe mode switch when starting Firefox:

 /path/to/firefox -safe-mode

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

All these parameters should be in the standard application settings. From the command line, safe mode is what you want to learn.

Reset Firefox for the default settings from the help β†’ Troubleshooting information, it will save your passwords, etc. and you will get a clean start, I just did it a few minutes ago and it really works. Do not check the addon update every time (by the way, I got this nasty thing when I turned on automatic update for firefox)
