The best way to register with SSIS

There are 5 different types of logging in SSIS

  • The event log
  • Text file
  • XML file
  • SQL Server
  • SQL Server Profiler

I am in a working environment where developers do not have access to production systems.

What registration method should be my poison of choice and why?

If you do not have access to the production server, then logging into SQL Server is your best bet. You will have many ways to view registered information, for example, through SSRS user reports or web pages, or direct access to tables if your database administrator allows this. In addition, logs will be easier to search and filter in a table.

Personally, I prefer logging into SQL Server.

I think this is due to the fact that it puts the data in a form with which I can immediately access and process. For example, I can cut and cut data, export it to another server, set agent settings for tracking logs and email notifications, etc.

You watched BI xPress from Pragmaticworks. They have a serious audit function for SSIS.
