Automatically scale iphone safari

Is there a way for Mobile Safari to recognize a mobile phone website and automatically zoom in? How does it work on other phones and browsers?

I would like not to look at user_agent and send different pages for each mobile browser.

See Customize the viewing area in the Apple Web Application Development Guide.

I just noticed that if you have the body or main wrapper size set to 100%, it can ruin how far it scales / displays in the mobile browser. This is confirmed in the browser for mobile Safari and Android. After I set the #siteWrapper height from 100% to auto, it is then displayed on a much better scale.

(100% height on the main wrapper is often used with sticky footers.)

Sites can recognize a mobile browser and accordingly produce output, which is usually desired.

Safari will determine the width and scale, but no further ...

You can avoid using different pages based on the User Agent using conditional CSS. Apple really has very good documentation on creating web pages that can support Safari on iPhone along with desktop browsers.

I would advise you to start by reading the iPhone Guide for Web Applications . This will give you a good start to using conditional CSS to customize pages based on device characteristics (such as screen size) rather than User Agent.
