WCF Named Channels: Via Network? Indeed?

Many people seem to think that this is possible , but clearly in this document the border is indicated as an interprocess, which, in my opinion, means "no network."

Another document is absolutely clear:

Named pipe transport has very little space; it can only connect to services running on the same computer

So why do so many posters here say it can work?

I think you need to distinguish between Named Pipe and WCF NETNamedPipeBinding binding implementation.

NetNamedPipeBinding is a predefined binding for WCF to communicate on the machine.

Provides a reliable and reliable binding optimized for communication on a machine.

But if you check the MSDN documentation for Named Pipes, you will see that you can configure the named pipe over the network.

Named pipes can be used to provide communication between processes on the same computer or between processes on different computers on a network.

In general, named pipes work over the network. However, using named pipes with WCF, you are limited to communications on the machine. This is why your first and last links are correct.
