I migrated a few months ago from windows on a Mac. It has been a long time since the last login to Windows, and I was C # freak .. so on Mac I tried to use Mono, and .. I was really disappointed because it is not like on Windows: you have a weak The IDE is for work, and it seems so .. poor! Then I decided to take a big step and switch to objective-c and Cocoa! And now I'm happy again when I was at the windows. So, I want to say that if you want to continue working with C #, stick to the Windows platform .. but if you want to develop Mac applications, try switching to objective-c and Cocoa!

You can also try WINE , which is a kind of emulator for Windows programs on Mac / Linux, and you can try installing .net and SharpDevelop tools and using mono to create output, the advantage is that you get few rich tools for your development.

  • TextWrangler + Mono
  • Compiling the Parallels + UltraEdit + Command Prompt
  • Parallels + Visual Studio

I download MonoDevelop now, have not tried this after a while.

I am using VMWare Fusion to run Visual Studio in a Windows virtual machine. I would recommend this only if you have a fast Intel processor with at least 4 GB of memory.

Fusion also offers "Unity" mode to make Visual Studio look like it starts as a native Mac application. A great concept, but in practice it uses too much RAM and processor.

Otherwise, you can use the boot camp to run Visual Studio on Windows. This gives you the full power of your hardware resources, but you must boot in order to use it.
