GitHub noobian, should I install msysGit or Cygwin?

I intend to use GitHub with Git Extensions and possibly integrated with FogBugz (optional).

Looking at the download page and reading some technical half of the questions, I wanted to see what you would better install on Windows 7, given that I want to integrate with Visual Studio 2008 (thinking that it will be through GitExtensions).

The direct answer (msysGit or Cygwin?) Between them would be great, but there would no longer be any reasonable advice on getting started with GitHub, or if I really missed the whole mark (no matter what?), It would be imported from Subversion.

I have never found previous options that are great for Windows and have been used for some time to use mercurial.

Now github have done github: windows and after a little use it is very impressive. This is a well-designed product and I think it will greatly expand the use of GitHub on windows.

Cygwin was officially recommended the last time I checked, but I think msysgit may have caught up with now. I am using TortoiseGit with msysgit and it seems to work fine. Recommended.

If you used TortoiseSVN with Subversion, you can watch TortoiseGit , a version of TortoiseSVN Git.

Git Extensions require msysGit . The "Full" installation has msysGit and KDiff3 packaged by it.

As for the comparison, the only significant difference that I know of is that msysGit does not yet support git-daemon . Since you are using GitHub, this should not greatly affect you.
