Can you recommend lightweight java portlet software?

I have long been a developer of java sites, but I am new to portlet technology.

I am currently searching for my options.

I tried Liferay , and although it is very cool, it is a little heavy for my needs.

Can you recommend a lighter portlet container?

I think the Apache Pluto reference implementation JSR-168/286 is likely to be as easy as you are going to get.

Most, if not all, portlet products are focused on the corporate market, which means that they are usually delivered as part of the "heavy" product of the corporate portal, although the portlet (producer) component should usually be light enough.

You can see the Jetspeed portal , part of the Apache Portals Project . Although I really do not think that it is classified as "easy."

Portals are quite heavy in nature, but I found the Pluto portlet container useful for testing individual portlets, as it can be configured on Tomcat or Jetty in a few minutes and requires minimal initial configuration. Pluto is used as a container for the Jetspeed portlet.

Try Open Portal Portlet Container . This is a lightweight portlet container.
