Javascript World Timezone Difference from GMT Calculator

I was hoping that someone could send me in the direction of regularly updating the time zone database.

I found one, but apologies, I can’t remember where it came from, however, with the fast approaching of the current GMT hours, I’m afraid that all my data will be incorrect, i.e. the differences between the UK and the New York will change from 5 hours backlog to 6 hours.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the Olson database ?

For example, the fleegix.js java script library is a date-based replacement that gives you the time zone full-scale support for the time zone, regardless of the time zone installed on the end-user machine running in the browser. It uses olinfo zoneinfo files for its time zone data.

I believe that time-converter also uses such a database, as well as timeanddate.com , for example for London or New York .

Any information about DST (daylight saving time) can be deduced from timeanddate.com , as well as from daylight-savings-time.info

Here is a javascript program that uses DST information to apply the correct time shift.
And another script for SimpleTimeZone .

You can also request DST data from global-time-zones.com , as in wwp.britishsummertime.co.uk . You also have information at webexhibits.org

See this forum for a lengthy discussion on how to get information about DST.

Finally, look at the SO question for an example tar.gz Olson database.

If you have latitude and longitude, wherever you find time zone information, then you can match this to live time zone information using a service like this: http://www.earthtools.org/ webservices.htm # timezone

If you start with the name of an address or place, you can get lat / lng information using the geocoding service. see geonames.org, or google and yahoo also have services. Then use the time zone service as above.
