Creator of Linux Setup

I am looking for a tool that can create "installation" packages for Linux, as Windows creators (NSIS, InstallShield, etc.) do. I want him to be able to present a graphical interface for the user (or based on ncurses), where he can select some options and install the package.

Any ideas on such a tool? I know about auto packages, but thatโ€™s not quite what I want. The main focus is on the correct installation of the software, I want something that focuses on creating an installer that can copy files, edit, run scripts, etc.

One option might be to configure loki . It supports curses and gtk-based installers. Several installer generators are cross-platform, relying on the presence of a JVM, such as VAInstall . Commercial offers include InstallAnywhere .

Not.

Installing software on linux / bsd is usually done by the package management system. This package management system depends on the Linux distribution or the bsd option.

Creating a distribution package is usually done by the distribution itself. Mostly because they are a lot to support developers.

So you do not pack it, do not let them do it.

If the source is not distributed freely, select the distribution (s) that your (potential) users use.

Use InstallBuilder 9 . It seems awesome.

Try our Install Anywhere, its Java-based installation system.

I think the best tool is DCP Setup Maker, which again is a cross-platform installer.
