Where can I find the city / district database?

Question

Where can I find a database of cities and areas using MySQL? I am only interested in the United States. The price does not matter.

The database should help identify locations by zip code. I already have a database showing cities and states, but I also need to find neighborhoods.

I saw a good example at http://www.oodle.com/ .

The Zillow neighborhood data is licensed under CC-sharealike, and is pretty comprehensive. Currently, it is widely used in the geospatial world.

There are many free resources in your target cities or counties that can be found, from the '.gov / .us sites, for specific cities and counties. Unfortunately, besides the difficulties with finding such resources (it seems that there is no practical directory for such local user-managed databases), there is no standard regarding the format in which the data is stored, or the specific semantics of the data collected. Fortunately, the ZIP code is rather non-standard, and the concept of its neighborhood is relatively general (although the quarters themselves can be quite dynamic, with the bot - the introduction of new names for the neighborhoods and some slight shift of borders).

The overall complexity of the task of compiling such databases, the long half-life of the data, and the potentially beneficial use of such data, apparently explain why it is difficult to find non-profit sources.

Urban mapping has an API for finding neighborhoods by address, city / state and, as you need in your case, a zip code (called the getNeighborhoodsByPostalCode method).

Although this is not a database as such, you can quickly populate your own database by calling their API for each postcode you are interested in.

Please note that this is part of their Premium API. If you have the long / lat coordinates of each city, you can use their free API to get a list of neighborhoods whose borders contain long / lat coordinates.
