What news / conversations from Microsoft PDC (2009) will have the greatest impact on you as a programmer?

(I made this community wiki)

As a programmer who mainly works with .NET, the direction of the functions of Microsoft development platforms has a great influence on my functional work.

The recent PDC gives an idea of โ€‹โ€‹where Microsoft is going with its development platforms.

  • So, what PDC do you think is most effective for you as a programmer?
  • When do you expect the above to start launching "real life"?

Please indicate links to the video report and / or transcript and / or related Channel 9 videos and save each response to one of the technology areas. Please explain how the technology will affect you as a programmer, as well as providing a short overview of the technology.

Microsoft seems to be solving problems that I don't have and is dreaming of dreams that have nothing to do with me. Everything is fine with me, I still love and use the .NET Framework every day.

The best that seemed from the PDC of 2009 was a free tablet, which all participants received.

To answer this question, I think the biggest news for me personally is that Microsoft does not support what I'm looking for to help. When they spend so much time discussing Azure, when less than 1% of software applications (yes, I made this number) need the scalability and capabilities that Azure provides, I start looking elsewhere for reference.
