How to activate revision information as line number

I know the Eclipse function for displaying revision information (gradual coloring, additional information, such as version number, date and author when you hover over the mouse) for the latest changes to the line in the linenumbers view.

Does anyone know how to activate this feature for a file, or even better, by default? Recently, I accidentally got into some shortcut that made it show in one file, but it does not appear in others.

This is called Show Annotation, and you can find it in the Team menu. Since this is a rather expensive operation, you cannot do it by default.

Regarding the shortcut: you need to enable the SVN command group.

Window -> Customize Perspective... -> Command Groups Availability -> check "SVN" .

If you do this, some SVN actions will appear on the toolbar, which you can delete again (if you want) using the same Customize Perspective dialog ( Tool Bar Visibility tab).

Reusing a shortcut did not work for me, but turning on a group of commands (with the default keywords displaying Ctrl+Alt+A ).

(did not find a way to answer Aaron's answer, so I had to create a new one)
