HTML link to a directory in Samba share that works in Internet Explorer 7/8

I want my HTML page to reference a directory in Samba Sharing (SMB / CIFS Sharing for Windows). In my HREF, I wrote file://server/Share2/folder3

Most browsers do this very well (mount the share and open the file manager in folder 3), with the exception of Internet Explorer 7 and Internet Explorer 8, which say Permission denied without even asking for a password. What should I write in HREF for IE7 / 8 to be able to open folder3?

Notes:

It works fine if the path not contains part of folder3 . It works great if the share is already set. Therefore, before testing, enter "net use" to make sure that none of them are already installed. The Windows username and share username do not match, so the popup should ask for a username / password. Again, this works fine if the not path contains part of folder3 .

The correct link syntax is file: //:

 file:///path/on/local/computer file://server/share/folder

So, in your case, try the file: // server / Share2 / folder3

source share

Check if this is fixed by adding the resource to trusted sites in IE. (For example, the security of Internet sites, reliable sites)
