Is there a useful purpose for <style type = "text / javascript">?

What is it useful and useful for?

This is for JSSS or Javascript style sheets; see here for more information. It's non-standard and never goes beyond the original Netscape offer, which you can read here . I do not think most browsers today support this; I have never seen a website that used it.

I believe my mistake. "text / javascript should only be associated with a script tag, not a style tag!

Both <style></style> and <script></script> can be used without the 'type' attribute. Probably a sticky tradition on the Internet.

Most importantly, all browsers except NS4 will ignore the code block when the type is not recognized. This may not be important for the Style tag, but useful for the Script tag.

The style type cannot be "text / javascript". It should be text / css only.
