Trust _blank netiquette

I'm not talking about the way and means of opening new windows or tabs, this is not a problem. (And anyway, I'm using the rel = "external" attribute, not target = "_ blank" these days.)

I am talking about the philosophy of this line of thinking:

Also, the sitemap and privacy policy of the link at the bottom of the screen should open a new window, and not redirect again, you can not return to the page

Yes, thanks to the boss.

What does the team think? Personally, I believe that a) a poor user experience and b) offends their intelligence, haven't people figured out their back buttons?

I am interested to know the opinions of others.

My thought is that you should not open a new window unless you have a good reason (and probably not).

I think of it this way: if the window you open is on the same site and is a β€œfull” copy of the same site (which means that they can continue from there), I would not open a new window. If the user wants, they can.

If the new window is not a β€œfull” window (for example, a help window, etc.), then it is probably best to be a Javascript dialog box, but if it is not, I think it might be a new window.

Some sites also open links to other domains in a new window. I think the main thing is consistency.

The quote seems to suggest that the back button is not working for your application. I had to use some websites / applications where the "Back" and "Forward" buttons were not used, and in such cases, I think that it is normal to open new windows / tabs. However, I also think that you should fix the underlying problem that makes the back / forward buttons work.
