I am trying to understand why I will use the grid. I read some, but I just do not understand. I'm used to just putting the material in html on the page and doing it, but I have a new project and you want to use the grid, because this is apparently the best practice.
I read in one article, mentioned in another SO question, and said that mesh design was in all kinds of design, even when developing the application form. It made me think of things like grid snap, etc., and I didn't know if the grid in the web design area was the same. I was hoping that someone could give me a short, but not too complicated presentation, and not a link to Google, which I already used.
Thanks for any help.
EDIT: I found this site the easiest: http://www.zurb.com/playground/css-grid-builder , but again, what should I do with 12 columns? Is everything in the column βbrokenβ to fit into the column? it doesn't make sense to me.
EDIT: I read the 960 series tutorial below and felt better, but in the end he says:
You can also use the Grid 960 concepts in production code, but it is not recommended that you stick to the wireframe all the way through production. CSS structures are like any tool, they use them. With that in mind, go ahead and prototype!
I'm not trying to get this out of context, but if I don't use it in production, what's the point? I understand the need for prototyping, but if I like the prototype, why not use the 960 grid? I can not understand this comment. Thanks.
EDIT:
Is the system 960 for production?
