MVC alternatives: examples of MVA and AVC?

I am interested in learning about alternative Model-View-Controller templates, in particular Model-View-Adapter and Application-View-Controller templates.

Google results are typically a high-level or Java-based overview.

Can someone provide or point me an example of these patterns in PHP, Python or JavaScript?

This may be python enough: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_View_Controller You should look at this structure, although templates are not frameworks, and understanding frameworks will not require you to understand the template.

As I understand from the description of AVC on my site, AVC is not a design pattern, it is the basis for python (as well as for jython).

That is why I think your question is incorrect.
