The nfs client on ubuntu 9.10, / etc / init.d / nfs-common does not exist

This seems like a trivial problem, but I can’t find a solution for several days now.

I am trying to configure the nfs client on ubuntu 9.10 (64 bit). All the tutorials I read say I need to restart a few things, like portmap as well as nfs-common. In particular:

sudo /etc/init.d/nfs-common restart

However, this file (/etc/init.d/nfs-common) does not exist.

 sudo apt-get install nfs-common

returns "nfs-common - this is the newest version."

When I try:

 sudo service nfs restart

I get:

 nfs: unrecognized service

What am I missing here?

Thanks to the good soul who can help me with this.

OK well. Now everything works for me. Here is what I did. I installed a new version of Ubuntu and ran:

 sudo apt-get install nfs-common

No matter what client processes are needed, it all started just fine, and I can run mount without any problems.

Here's the conclusion:
