Emacs is a great long-term solution for Scheme, as its editor is specifically designed for Lisp-like languages. But itβs hard to understand and requires a lot of work to configure it just the way you like it. The best Aquamacs Mac distribution, which is somewhat simpler in that it supports Cmd-C / X / V, multiple windows and multiple tabs (other distributions do not come with these options enabled by default).
I'm not sure I recommend it at the same time as you study Scheme, but you should definitely take a look later. I started with DrScheme and switched to emacs in a few months.
