Mac Schema / IDE Editor

I began to work through the Structure and Interpretation of computer programs. Positive, I installed a mit scheme. Now I need a Mac editor / IDE that can handle indentation and balance parentheses (or tips on how to best customize packaged tools).

Any suggestions? TIA

DrScheme is the best I know. It comes with a PLT Scheme if you prefer to use this rather than a MIT scheme.

Emacs is a great long-term solution for Scheme, as its editor is specifically designed for Lisp-like languages. But it’s hard to understand and requires a lot of work to configure it just the way you like it. The best Aquamacs Mac distribution, which is somewhat simpler in that it supports Cmd-C / X / V, multiple windows and multiple tabs (other distributions do not come with these options enabled by default).

I'm not sure I recommend it at the same time as you study Scheme, but you should definitely take a look later. I started with DrScheme and switched to emacs in a few months.
