Is Active Directory required for a team using TFS 2010?

I am new to TFS 2010 and want to give him an honest try for a small project with a team of 2-3 people.

Do all of my team users need to be part of the Active Directory network? or can I join my team members and log in using username / password?

No, Active Directory is not required.

Just give all your users the username / password on the computer where you installed TFS. By car, they can be "normal" users with limited access.

If you use WebAccess or want to obtain privileges for your users, do not forget to grant them the appropriate rights in the Team Foundation administration console. In the tree, select "Application Level", then in the appropriate parameters add the users you like, "Administration Console Users".
